Sport Zone claims that Chelsea is eager to hire Xabo Alonso, the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, right away. Behdad Eghbali, a co-owner of Chelsea, is reportedly interested in hiring Alonso as the team’s new head coach because he respects the Spaniard’s work at the Werkself.

Chelsea currently sits in the bottom part of the Premier League standings, 14 points outside of the top four, following their Sunday afternoon loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Leverkusen, who will play Der Rekordmeister on Saturday night, maintained a two-point lead over Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga standings with a 2-0 victory against Darmstadt on the road.

Chelsea would have to contend with fierce competition for Alonso’s services, though. The 42-year-old is one of, if not the most sought-after, head coaches in Europe; Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also vying for his services.

Chelsea eyeing Xabi Alonso is bad news for Liam Rosenior

Rosenior took Maresca’s spot at the beginning of the season for the Blues. However, after just three months, the supporters are already furious over the board’s choice to choose a manager without a resume for a team that aspires to be among the top teams in the world of football.

The amount of money invested over the last several transfer windows is a clear indication of the club’s goals. However, the outcomes are not what was anticipated. Not nearly. Rosenior’s tenure at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end as well. It’s possible that the Blues are already considering alternatives to the Englishman.

Alonso’s time at Real Madrid didn’t quite go according to plan. That may have less to do with his tactical skills and more to do with his inability to handle the big names. With Chelsea’s youthful team, there won’t be any such issues. Additionally, he won almost 70% of the games in the Spanish capital.

No formal communication between Alonso’s team and any of the interested clubs has been reported, despite the speculations. Despite his unsuccessful time at Real Madrid, the Spaniard is still among the most sought-after managers.
