According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has reached an agreement to buy Jesse Derry, a winger for Crystal Palace.
In recent years, Chelsea has made it a priority to sign as many of the top players from around the globe as they can. They have been using this tactic ever since Todd Boehly joined, and they have no intention of slowing down in their pursuit of the kind of player they hope to add this summer.
Those who have been selected from all around Europe but have not yet established themselves as senior players include Aaron Anselmino, Kendry Paez, Estevao, and Geovany Quenda. With players like Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro expected to regularly play in the senior squad, Enzo Maresca’s team has also bolstered their first team this summer.
Blues win nine-club battle for Crystal Palace youngster
According to Romano’s report on X, Chelsea has eight clubs to sign Derry, a star for Crystal Palace, and his medical is scheduled for this Friday.

Although Derry is only 18 years old and hasn’t yet made an appearance in the Palace senior squad, Romano has called him a “sensation.” Given the number of clubs vying for his services this summer, it’s obvious that he is highly regarded. Derry’s future was the subject of much conjecture after it was reported earlier this year that he had turned down a new contract at Selhurst Park.
Palace would have surely been able to give him a route to the first team in a few years, something they frequently do for young players, so losing one of their budding stars is a setback. Chelsea has jumped in and will gain from it. It will be intriguing to see if he plays for the academy teams, ships out on loan, or is engaged with Maresca.
