In addition to finalizing the agreement to acquire Pedro Neto from Wolves for up to £54 million, Chelsea is also nearing the acquisition of Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion. Wolves approved Chelsea’s proposal of £51 million plus add-ons on Friday, and the Portugal attacker is scheduled to undergo his physical the next day.

Neto has long been a target for Enzo Maresca’s team, and Chelsea took the decision to pursue one of their main goals after losing out on Michael Olise of Crystal Palace earlier in the summer to Bayern Munich. After two bids were turned down, Chelsea eventually reached an agreement with Wolves for an original £51.3 million plus £2.6 million in add-ons.

Trevoh Chalobah and David Datro Fofana were mentioned in talks about a player-plus-cash deal with the Blues earlier this week, but that deal was rejected. On Thursday night, a straight cash offer was also rejected.

Romano claims that Chelsea has already reached a personal agreement with Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, regarding the player’s salary; all that remains is to complete a deal with Gary O’Neil’s team.

Though Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Cole Palmer, and Noni Madueke are all capable of playing there, Neto has emerged as the top target to bolster the position, and Chelsea already has a wealth of wide options in the lineup.

Throughout the 2023–24 season, Neto was outstanding for Wolves, receiving praise from his manager, who described him as “absolutely incredible.” Prior to sustaining a hamstring injury, he led the Premier League in assists for a significant portion of the season.
