Carney Chukwuemeka gives verdict On Chelsea's loss to Man City

Chelsea boss Calum McFarlane heads into the FA Cup final against Manchester City full of belief, declaring his side “can beat anyone” when they perform at their best.

“We Can Beat Anyone” – McFarlane Sends Bold Warning to Manchester City

The Blues enter Saturday’s Wembley showpiece on the back of a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

While that result does little to boost their Champions League qualification hopes, it does end their losing run in the Premier League.

McFarlane wants his players to carry that confidence into the clash with the treble-chasing Cityzens.

City remain overwhelming favourites. They trimmed Arsenal’s lead at the top to just two points by beating Crystal Palace 3-0 on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola’s men have not lost to Chelsea since the 2021 Champions League final. But McFarlane refuses to accept history as destiny.

“These players have shown that if they’re at their best, they can beat anyone,” McFarlane said to Chelsea FC media.

“They have the belief they can beat anyone. We just know we have to be the best version of ourselves.”

The Chelsea manager also delivered positive fitness news. Reece James trained well this week, impressed during his minutes on Saturday, and the club hopes he maintains his form through the season’s end.

Levi Colwill completed a strong rehabilitation and a good training week. Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho also trained excellently, offering encouraging signs.

McFarlane reserved special praise for Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro. Palmer has battled multiple injuries this year but showed his quality at the weekend.

“He’s a top player, and he’s proved that many times,” McFarlane said.

Joao Pedro has settled into the number nine role superbly, and McFarlane believes the Brazilian has everything a top striker needs ahead of a big World Cup summer.

“I’m happy with the whole squad,” McFarlane added. “The level of professionalism has been shown at all times.”

He admits the occasion is massive for Chelsea fans and promises a performance worthy of their support.
