Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly inched closer to a new deal at Chelsea Football Club, according to their boss Frank Lampard.

When asked about the situation after his side beat Reading 4-3 in a pre-season friendly, Lampard said: “If he had agreed then that would mean he had signed and we’re not quite there yet, but it’s very clear that the club are working towards that.

It is being reported that a deal worth £100,000-a-week, rising to £150,000 with bonuses is being closed upon by the two parties.

“I think talks have moved on very well in the last week or two, hence why the headlines came out, but it’s not done yet.

“The one thing that’s clear for me is I know I want to keep him here and the club wants to keep him because he’s a player we cherish.

“He’s come through our academy, he’s the present and the future of this club so we’re doing everything we can to get there.”

Hudson Odoi broke into the Chelsea team under Antonio Conte two seasons ago but made his impact last season going on to register 10 goals and assists in 21 games for the club.
