Roberto de Zerbi aims to keep Levi Colwill beyond this season.

The Chelsea academy product has been impressive for the Seagulls since his move last summer for the 2022-23 season.

The 19-year-old produced a number of impressive displays for Roberto de Zerbi’s side since the World Cup break.

He has been an undroppable member of the Brighton side but unfortunately, he is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks.

Colwill has been a big asset in the defence and is expected to be out for six weeks with his muscle injury.

His contract with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2025 and the Blues are expected to tie him down to a long-term contract.

Seagulls manager Roberto de Zerbi expects the youngster to stay at the Amex beyond this summer.

He said: “I am sorry for him because for us the left centre-back is very important. Lewis Dunk is a top player but he is on the right and we lose some line passes from the left.

“I am very happy with Levi’s progress. I hope he can stay with us in the future because he has the potential to become a great player and he is very important for us.”
