Chelsea star Kepa Arrizabalaga unlikely to return in future at Stmaford Bridge

Bournemouth and Chelsea are negotiating for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to join the team. Due to his decline in status at Stamford Bridge, Arrizabalaga is being pursued by Bournemouth on a loan basis for the 2024–25 campaign. The South Coast club is in negotiations with Chelsea, its Premier League rivals, and the 29-year-old, who is their primary target.

Kepa has drawn interest from a number of teams, including Saudi teams. He spent the previous season on loan at La Liga champion Real Madrid. The 29-year-old Spanish goalie was set to leave Chelsea, and The Athletic reported that the Cherries were prioritizing him over Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal.

Kepa would have to renew his contract before completing the transfer, though, as it expires at the end of the current campaign.

Bournemouth show interest in Chelsea’s Kepa

Negotiations are hindered by the Spain international’s exorbitant salary, which is thought to be about £200,000 per week, according to insiders at the South Coast club. After spending £72 million to join the team in 2018, Kepa is still the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Chelsea would also anticipate that Kepa would extend his contract by at least a year, with a pay decrease.

If Kepa performs well on loan, the Blues may be able to cash in on him later. However, in order to make the trade possible, all sides would need to make concessions about Kepa’s wage payment. Real Madrid, where Kepa spent the previous season on loan, expressed interest in re-signing him, but only if Andriy Lunin, a Ukrainian international, chose to leave the club.
