The Bundesliga giants have already held initial talks with Chelsea.
Borussia Dortmund are planning to sign Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen as a priority target for the summer transfer window. He has been outstanding in his new role.
He has been a key asset for Edin Terzic’s side since he completed a loan move to Signal Iduna Park in January. He made 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Maatsen has started all six of Dortmund’s Champions League knockout games, helping the German side reach their first Champions League final since 2011-12. He will now be in action for the Champions League final on June 01.
Maatsen will return to his parent club Chelsea when his loan deal concludes at the end of the season. According to journalist Patrick Berger, the Bundesliga club are making it one of their top priorities to sign Maatsen on a permanent deal this summer.
The Bundesliga giants have already held initial talks with the Blues and are hoping to bring the price down from Maatsen’s reported €35m release clause. He is believed to be keen to join Dortmund permanently after failing to establish himself in the Chelsea first-team.
