Billy Gilmour can be the perfect replacement for Jorginho in the future.

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has been ruled out of the Scotland Euro 2020 squad after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Jorginho’s spot at Chelsea could be under threat from Billy Gilmour from next season onwards claims former Blues manager Glen Hoddle.

Gilmour broke into Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea squad in the latter part of the 2020/21 season and just made his international debut against England last week.

“Billy Gilmour had a good game, and there’s still more to come, but it was his first game and he was excellent,” Hoddle said in quotes picked up by The Sun.

“He can only grow and get better. He’s not really match fit, so he’s going to get better.

“He keeps the ball well and he’s such a young player. He showed a lot of maturity.

“He’s instantly the replacement for Jorginho at Chelsea, they won’t have to look in the market for someone because he is already there, learning and developing into a great player.”
