Chelsea have been linked with a number of striking transfers this January and Karim Benzema is reportedly at the top of the Blues’ shortlist next to Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain.

Now recent reports claim that Alvaro Morata is close to making his switch to Sevilla with his agent spotted in Spain negotiating terms with the club. Should the 25-year-old leave Stamford Bridge this month, Maurizio Sarri will be left worryingly short-staffed in the number nine position.

Understandably this has hiked demands for bets of Chelsea signing a striker and Ladbrokes, a leading bookmaker has suspended all bets for Karim Benzema making his way over to South London.

The Madrid forward has scored on 7 occasions in the La Liga this term and has a contract till the end of the 2020/21 season. He is the starting centre-forward under Santiago Solari but reports claim that the 31-year-old’s time at the Bernabeu might slowly be coming to an end.

Benzema is entering his veteran years as a footballer and was somewhat disappointing in front of goal last season. With Cristiano Ronaldo currently out of the Los Blancos, the Frenchman has not exactly blossomed back into top form.

Chelsea had previously also been linked with Benzema but a move never materialised. The Blues, in turn, chose to pay £60m for Benzema’s understudy at Madrid, Alvaro Morata.
