As Chelsea’s transfer window buzzes with excitement, one name refuses to disappear from the striker shortlist: RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Journalist suggests Chelsea could rekindle interest in Benjamin Sesko

Despite enzo Maresca already reinforcing his attack with Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro, whispers now hint at a possible reversal in the pursuit of the highly rated Slovenian.

Early in the window, Sesko was firmly on the Blues’ radar. However, the club shifted focus to more accessible targets, notably Delap and Pedro.

But should the unexpected occur namely, the departure of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku esteemed journalist Ben Jacobs believes Sesko is suddenly back in play.

Following discussions with Chelsea content creator Alex Goldberg, Jacobs relayed via X:

“If Chelsea sell Nicolas Jackson AND Christopher Nkunku, then you maybe could see Chelsea pivot back to someone like Benjamin Sesko even though they ruled him out before, because they may feel like they need two out and out proper number 9’s.

This renewed interest stems not just from Sesko’s raw talent and physical presence standing at 6’4″ with clinical finishing ability—but also from Chelsea’s strategic shift.

Financially bolstered by their Club World Cup triumph, the hierarchy under Maresca is still bound by a tight-knit recruitment plan. Sesko offers a long‑term striking solution, blending youth with Premier League readiness.

That said, significant hurdles remain. RB Leipzig reportedly value Sesko at around €90 million, a steep price tag for any club even one flush with newfound funds.

Outside interest complicates the scenario further: Serie A sides and Saudi clubs have both been rumored to eye the 22‑year‑old, while domestic competition may emerge from Manchester United if they fail to secure a striker elsewhere.

For Sesko himself, the decision is looming. He’s expressed a strong desire to commit his next chapter to European football, making a move to the Premier League a genuine aspiration.

But as things stand, his fate hangs in the balance potentially dictated not by his ability on the field, but by Chelsea’s transfer comings and goings.
