Bayern Munich have let up on their pursuit of Chelsea youngster, Callum Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window.
The Bundesliga giants had placed several bids to draw him out to the Allianz Arena, the last one reported to be in the region of £35m. Several reports even claimed that Hudson-Odoi had requested for a transfer amidst heavy interests from Bayern.
However, Chelsea have successfully managed to keep hold of their academy prospect this month as the Bavarians’ manager, Niko Kovac revealed that the club will not be adding any more players this season.
The 47-year-old was quoted – “We will no longer be active in the transfer market. The teams do not want to let their players leave. We have a good and big squad. I have to leave one or two at home again this weekend.”
Hudson-Odoi scored a wonderful goal in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday last week to justify why he is so heavily coveted by one of the European powerhouses.
The teenage winger darted into the opposition box to bring down an aerial ball with a soft first touch. He immediately flicked it in between his legs to beat his defender and smashed in the powerful effort towards Kieran Westwood.
Unfortunately for the Sheffield keeper, the ball was far too powerful for him too handle and it ended up in the back of the net.
Chelsea can hope to see Bayern reignite their interests for Hudson-Odoi as soon as Arjen Robben leaves Bayern next summer.
