Callum Hudson-Odoi is old news for Bayern Munich now. Now the Bundesliga side are all about another Chelsea winger, Willian, now.
So why did they switch player interests? The German giants ditched their pursuit for Hudson-Odoi, after they failed to get the winger on to their side last summer. The reason they’re onto Willian now, is because his contract with the Blues will be ending soon – at the season.
Chelsea had rejected Bayern Munich thrice already for Hudson-Odoi, after coming to an agreement and placing several bids. Apparently, the 19-year old had already agreed to a deal – personally – with the German giants, but it fell through when Lampard denied their offers.
For them, Willian seems more of a viable option. The Brazilian into his final 6 months of his contract with the Blues and has already struck a great interest in Bayern, Arsenal and Tottenham, among others. Willian does want to stay at Chelsea though, and wants to renew his contract at Stamford Bridge for the next three years. However, Chelsea is only willing to offer the 31 year old two years.
Willian has made 5 goals and 5 assists in 28 matches this 2019-20 Premier League season. Even though the Blues are offering him two years instead of 3, most clubs do not extend contract with players over 30 years of age – hence showing how important he is to Chelsea.
Bayern Munich knows that very well and is keen on bringing him to Germany.
