Chelsea and Bayern Munich have begun discussions over a potential trade involving Christopher Nkunku and Mathys Tel. The 19-year-old has only started two Bundesliga games for Bayern this season, but the Blues are intrigued by him. The French forward has struggled with fitness, but he is also lower in the hierarchy under Vincent Kompany, beginning on the bench 12 times in the league and only making five appearances.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is lingering, but Tel has talked to Kompany and hopes for a prosperous future in Bavaria. According to the source, preliminary discussions over a potential trade agreement were undertaken when the Blues requested to be updated on Tel’s present availability. According to the German newspaper BILD, Nkunku was one of the Chelsea players being considered for a trade. Although negotiations have begun following initial interest from both teams, any transaction is still in its very early stages.

The future of Christopher Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £52 million in the summer of 2023 and may be utilized in talks with Bayern about a transfer for Tel, is also uncertain. Chelsea is also making vain attempts to find a buyer for Ben Chilwell. On Monday, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Chelsea is considering Tel this month.

In order to learn more about Mathys Tel’s circumstances, he posted on X: EXCL: Chelsea and Bayern had discussions about him in the last few days. Ten days ago, Tel spoke with Kompany about his desire to succeed at Bayern, while Chelsea requested information about Mathys during their discussions with the German team.

The France international Nkunku is reportedly annoyed by his lack of opportunities under Enzo Maresca, who has preferred Nicolas Jackson to play central striker in the Premier League this season. Nkunku has been forced to make appearances from the bench and start in cup games. With Nkunku valued at €50 million and Tel at only €30 million, it’s unclear if Chelsea would accept a straight trade.
