Hansi Flick chased three Chelsea stars before signing Leroy Sane from Man City.

Bayern Munich signed Leroy Sane for £40.9million in the summer from Manchester City.

The German winger had been long on Bayern’s radar but there were rumours that Flick missed out on his preferred options for the Bundesliga giants.

The Bundesliga giants tried and failed several times to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi in the past.

Hudson-Odoi went down the pecking order since the arrival of summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Former manager Frank Lampard reassured that the 20-year old winger has an important role to play for the Blues but hardly played a part at Chelsea during his tenure.

Flick clarified to Sky Deutschland: “It is always said that [Callum] Hudson-Odoi and [Barcelona’s Sergino] Dest were my desired players, but they were our desired players.

“We decided that we wanted to add players for the wide areas and that is what we did. [Kai] Havertz, [Timo] Werner and Sane were mentioned, I would have loved to have all three, but we all decided on Sane. He’s a player who makes a difference.”
