Azpilicueta tells Chelsea to get more clinical on both ends

The introduction of Frank Lampard’s football at Chelsea has seen the fans glimmer in hope and pride.

The primary reason for this is the fans being able to watch their own boys from Chelsea’s youth academy finally get a chance on the big stage and impress everyone with their attractive style of play.

However, Frank’s system while allowing players to enjoy more has seen players break down in clinical situations.

Yes, Chelsea have been extremely poor in both boxes this season – both in terms of missing chances and conceding goals from rare opportunities.

And the problem is not new this season. While people were happy to watch us create chances, everyone expected that we would learn how to convert them sooner rather than later.

Indeed after the narrow defeat to Manchester City, fans and our coach was even hopeful! This is what Lamps had said after the City match!

However, 3 defeats in 4 matches in the league after that mean Chelsea have simply continued to be wasteful.

They currently rank 2nd in terms of chances wasted behind Manchester City. Chelsea have 26 to City’s 33. It is in light of such stats, that Cesar Azpilicueta has issued a rallying cry for the team to be more clinical.

The Chelsea captain said, ”We are conceding a lot and when we arrive in the dangerous areas, we are not clinical enough to score our chances. It’s a major problem because in football the key is to be clinical in both boxes and at the moment we are not strong enough in both of them so we have to work on that.”

Chelsea have to make up for lost ground against old foe Jose Mourinho this weekend when they take on Tottenham Hotspur!
