Andreas Christensen slammed for not playing in FA Cup final

Andreas Christensen is set to join Barcelona on a free transfer.

The Dane was unavailable in Chelsea’s defeat over Liverpool in the FA Cup final on Saturday night.

He was apparently not injured but still made himself unavailable for a crucial game.

With his contract expiring in the summer, Christensen is expected to join Barcelona having agreed to personal terms.

But pundit Martin Keown somehow believes Christensen knew that he was not named in the starting XI and didn’t want to be on the bench.

“We haven’t had his take on it but it does seem odd that he played in the Leeds game three days before in a back three,” Keown told talkSPORT.

“And, of that back three, he was the only one that didn’t play in the cup final.

“So maybe he deduced that he wasn’t going to be picked – he was probably given an indication of that the day before the match when they do their run-throughs.

“And maybe he felt that he just couldn’t bear to be involved. I can think of another reason.”
