Al Shabab of the Saudi League has made Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea a transfer target

Despite a trade to Al Nassr fell through earlier in the transfer window, the imaginative Moroccan still has interest from the Middle East. Al Shabab has surfaced as a new suitor, and Al Ahli even considered making a move for him but instead signed Riyad Mahrez.

Ziyech is apparently looking to return to Ajax, where he first made a name for himself as a world-class talent. Before joining Chelsea from the Amsterdam giants in 2020, he made 165 appearances for the record Eredivisie champions, scoring 49 goals and dishing out 81 assists. The former Ajax number ten, who has had a terrible time in England since the transfer three years ago, is unsure of if Ajax would bring him back.

They have been hesitant to make transfers, which has displeased a number of players ahead of the forthcoming season. Also, they could be unable to afford his enormous wage. Ziyech has made 103 appearances for Chelsea but has only managed 14 goals and 13 assists. Many anticipated him to deliver better results, but he fell short of expectations. Even when healthy, he never seemed to fit with the team; injuries played a part.

Due to Chelsea’s administrative blunder, the attacker from Dronten came perilously close to moving to Paris Saint-Germain in January. When the season was over, he rejoined them and played on their squad. Nevertheless, Chelsea made the decision to offload him this summer as part of their purge, but the planned transfer to Al Nassr fell through last month. There were accusations that Al Nassr tried to lower the enormous pay they had initially offered him because they had concerns about his knee.

Ziyech was left behind by Chelsea during their preseason tour of the United States because new manager Mauricio Pochettino refused to take him. The international Moroccan player must now wait for potential suitors to arrive and take him away from Stamford Bridge. Will Al Shabab present a specific proposal? Or will his old team Ajax pick him up and take him home? For the time being, it is still unclear. Only one thing is certain: Chelsea wants to get rid of him this summer.
