Conor Gallagher feels Chelsea leadership boosted his chance of making England’s Euro squad

Andrey Santos allegedly turned down a contract offer worth £7 million annually, despite Chelsea and Saudi Pro League team Al Qadsiah negotiating a £60 million agreement. Towards the close of the summer transfer window, Santos was linked to Saudi powerhouse Al Qadsiah.

Brazilian publication UOL claims that serious negotiations with Chelsea, who acquired Santos for £18 million two years ago, were prompted by an offer of £60 million. Santos turned down an incredible contract offer of £7 million a year, but Chelsea seemed amenable to the arrangement.

Santos turned down the offer because he was concerned about how moving to Saudi Arabia would affect his prospects of competing in the World Cup next summer, even though it would have more than quadrupled his present pay. Santos is eager to stay in Carlo Ancelotti’s thoughts before the 2026 World Cup, having already won two caps for Brazil.

Andrey Santos turns down Saudi club despite eye-watering offer

According to UOL, Al Quadisiya was prepared to give Santos five times his current salary in West London. Furthermore, it is said that the Saudi squad offered Chelsea £60 million to sign one of its top-rated new players. Santos allegedly turned on the chance to earn almost £7 million a year in the Middle East, though.

Santos knows that due to his impact at Strasbourg, he is highly respected by both the Chelsea and Maresca administrations. Given that a contract is in place for the next five years, Santos seems to be understanding that he cannot hope to topple Caicedo and Fernandez at this time.

If he remains fit, he will surely receive more playing time when Chelsea starts their Champions League schedule in mid-September and competes in the EFL Cup. From September 13 to September 30, Chelsea’s schedule included games against Brentford, Manchester United, Benfica, Brighton & Hove Albion, Lincoln City, and Bayern Munich.
