Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their chase for Andre Onana.Â
The Ajax goalkeeper has been a priority target for Frank Lampard at Chelsea. Lampard took charge of Chelsea last summer and led a revolution at the Bridge by bringing in young players.Â
In his high-performing team, one player who has gone down the ladder is Chelsea’s record signing and world’s most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spanish stopper’s form has deteriorated so much that Lampard had to replace him with Willy Caballero, the 38-year-old back up in goal for a series of important matches.Â
With the transfer window approaching, it was clear that bosses in Chelsea camp are looking at replacements. One of them is Andre Onana of Ajax. The young goalkeeper has been very impressive in his Dutch side and has the correct traits of a modern goalkeeper.Â
He recently admited that he enjoyed his time in Ajax. He also went on to admit that he was now looking for a new challenge. As if that was not enough, now his coach has admitted too that the player will leave in all probablity.Â
“Andre is very important to us and of course we don’t want to lose him,” Ten Hag told Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad.
“But it’s true that we have an agreement from last year about the development scenario and what steps we will take if the right club comes in at the right price.”
