AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that Jorginho’s arrival at Chelsea was a major reason behind his departure from the club in January.

Following the sacking of Antonio Conte, Chelsea appointed Maurizio Sarri as their manager. Not long after Sarri’s arrival, his midfield mainstay at Napoli Jorginho reunited with him on a transfer fee of £57 million. Soon, Jorginho became a regular for Chelsea and this severely affected Fabregas’ game-time at Chelsea.

Fabregas made only 6 Premier League appearances for Chelsea with only one of them coming as a start.

He eventually left the club to join Monaco in January. Speaking about his departure from Chelsea, Fabregas said, “I was at Chelsea and I could have renewed my contract to stay there. A new coach came and he came with a player that, for him, was like his son. For me it was difficult to play every single game – this is what I want to do. I love football. When I played for Chelsea, I’m happy.

[But] it was impossible to play every match – for whatever reason it was.”

So far, Fabregas has made  appearances for Monaco, scoring a goal. He will most likely start in today’s match against Stade Reims.

  1. Cesc is a better player than Jorginho,he would give defense splitting passes, and pass forward Jorginho only seems to go sideways, and to date has not had one assist leading to a goal, how is that progress.. Miss you Cesc.
