Maurizio Sarri Demands Permanent Deal For This Chelsea Player

Maurizio Sarri has expressed his desire to bring in Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal this summer.

The Croatian midfielder is currently on a season long loan at Chelsea and has impressed everyone with his versatility in the middle of the pitch. Sarri has mostly altered Ross Barkley and Kovacic for the third midfield position with N’Golo Kante being used in a more attacking role.

The manager has been severely criticised for not executing the “Sarri-Ball” perfectly but he already made it care he would not change his approach towards his game.

Given the current transfer ban, the Blues are poised to remain silent in the next two transfer windows but the Italian manager wants the club to sign Kovacic permanently.

“No, I want to try with Kovacic.

“He is only on loan, of course, but I’d like very much that Kovacic will stay with us. You know very well that, in that position, we have some problems because we have only Jorginho.

“In my opinion, Kovacic could become a very good central midfielder. Of course, he is not a defensive midfielder (at the moment) but, as you know, in that position I prefer a very technical player.

“In the last match, Jorginho touched 161 balls. So, for us, it’s very important for us to have big quality in that position. Big quality not for the last pass, but big quality in terms of moving the ball.”
