Chelsea have been given hope for the summer with the prospect of signing Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi as the Argentine striker is still not ready to be a part of the squad, according to his boss Luciano Spalletti.

“Considering what happened lately, including yesterday, I maintain he is not yet able to help his teammates in this game. That is why he will not be called up. I have to consider everything, from the previous period all the way up to yesterday. He trained with us all week, something new happened yesterday that I need to evaluate.”

Mauro has been at the San Siro for quite a large part of his footballing career. However, he has recently been in brilliant form for the last few years which has seen him get the captain’s armband to lead the team.

However, what his good form has also done is that it has seen interest in him rise from different parts of the world including the likes of Chelsea who are in desperate need of a solid number nine.

They currently have three strikers on loan and the squad is led by two forwards, both north of 30. Signing Icardi might do the trick for them!
