Chelsea Captain Feels The Next Nine Days Could Define Their Season

Cesar Azpilicueta feels the next nine days could define Chelsea’s entire season.

The Blues crashed out of the FA Cup following a harrowing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United. Chelsea have very little time to mourn for their loss as they are about to enter a crucial phase of their campaign starting with their midweek match against Malmo.

Maurizio Sarri’s side have a two crucial away goal advantage and are expected to go through to the next round.  They will then travel to Wembley for their quest of a first silverware under Maurizio Sarri as they take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The hectic scheduled ends with a London derby as Tottenham Hotspur will look to end Chelsea’s reign in London.

Azpilicueta said, “Hopefully we can have a good nine days. It’s the whole season.

“Hopefully we can have a good nine days. It’s the whole season.

“We will be back at the Bridge against Malmo to finish the job we started last Thursday, to get through to the next round.

“We didn’t put Manchester in difficulties even at 2-0 down. We were not very good in the final metres, so we paid (for) that. And at the end we couldn’t score.”
