Chelsea Displeased With Maurizio Sarri's Treatment Of £40m Youngster

The tides are completely turned against Maurizio Sarri after Chelsea’s embarrassing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City as the latest reports reveal that he is being blamed for misusing Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Italian manager is being heavily criticised by the Blues hierarchy for underutilising Hudson-Odoi. The club quite recently managed to knock out Bayern Munich’s offers (their third offer thought to be worth around £35m-£40m) for the teenage sensation with talks of more playing time for the teenager and even a bigger contract.

The 18-year-old’s deal is set to end in the summer of 2020 and it was being reported that he was considering a move to the Bundesliga in hopes more time on the pitch. Since being introduced into the Blues senior squad, Hudson-Odoi has recorded around 600 minutes of playing time this season.

He has made 4 appearances in the Premier League, all as a substitute and only started a few games in the domestic cup competitions. He even scored a brilliant goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday last month.

It took a lot of convincing to keep the youngster from leaving the Bridge in January. Sarri and his assistant, Gianfranco Zola had to openly praise the England U21 international, even handing him more minutes at the time.

However, he has not seen much action as soon as the January window shut down. He was left out of the squad in the 4-0 loss against Bournemouth and only played around 15 minutes in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town. Even with Pedro putting on a horror show in the Etihad showdown, Hudson-Odoi was nowhere to be seen, even on the sidelines, warming up.

Chelsea hierarchy want to keep hold of their talented academy product and also want to see him develop quickly. Fortunately for the Blues fans, Mirror Sport understands that the club will not allow the winger to leave by any means next summer.
