Chelsea prevented Batshuayi from joining Spurs on loan but HOW?

Several transfers were made on deadline day of the winter transfer window. One of these transfers included Michy Batshuayi joining Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea.

Chelsea signed Batshuayi in 2016 on a transfer fee of €40 million. Batshuayi stayed at Chelsea till January last year when he signed for Borussia Dortmund on loan. After scoring prolifically for Dortmund, he joined Valencia on loan.

This season, the Belgium international has been very disappointing for Valencia, scoring three goals in 23 matches across all competitions.

Batshuayi has signed for Crystal Palace but there were other clubs who were interested in him. This included West Ham, Real Betis and Tottenham Hotspur. There are reports that claim Batshuayi wanted a move to Tottenham but Chelsea didn’t want to loan him to Spurs.

So, how did they manage to prevent a loan move to Spurs? Chelsea simply demanded a loan sum of £8 million which is four times the sum they demanded from the other clubs.

This was enough to prevent Batshuayi from going to Spurs. Batshuayi will be hoping to make his Crystal Palace debut in tomorrow’s match against Fulham at Selhurst Park.
