Sarri reveals reason why he spoke to his players alone for 40 minutes

Sarri spoke to his players all alone after the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri spoke to his players alone in the changing room for 40 minutes after the Blues collapsed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat away at Bournemouth.

After a goalless first half, Chelsea failed to react in a positive manner when Joshua King opened the scoring for the hosts early in the second-half.

King completed his brace while David Brooks and Charlie Daniels all got on the scoresheet to cap off a famous victory for the Cherries.

And Sarri revealed the reason why he spoke to his players all alone inside the changing room, suggesting that he needed to know what went wrong with the team.

Speaking to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Sarri said: “I wanted to be alone with the players because I needed to understand otherwise it’s impossible to solve the problem.

“In this match, it was very very strange because the team were motivated in the first-half and suddenly in the second half, no.

“I wanted to understand why we played very well in the first-half and why when we conceded the first goal, which can happen, we reacted very badly.

“We didn’t act as a team in the offensive phase, acted as 11 eleven individual players and then we stopped defending.

“We were in trouble and I cannot understand why. After the first goal, we had 43 minutes to solve the problem.”

Sarri added: “I don’t know where the mistake is but for sure there is a mistake. I don’t know if it’s the players or if it’s my fault. I’m not able to motivate these players.

“We need to understand the players and the players need to understand me I think.

“This match was very important for us, we could have changed the season I think. It’s a very difficult moment and I think we need to react immediately because we have to play in three days.

  1. Jorginho should be dropped, put Kante in his proper position and put. Hudson-odi on the wing, these are the two most important changes.
