In a surprising turn of events, Christian Pulisic’s dad has said that Maurizio Sarri had met the player and had a long meeting prior to his Chelsea transfer.

Sarri had denied knowing about the American’s transfer in a press conference earlier this month.

‘I don’t know. I didn’t know anything about Pulisic yesterday,’ Sarri had said when asked about the Pulisic signing. ‘The club asked my opinion about him about one month ago. My opinion was positive. Today I have known that the deal is done but I didn’t know anything.’

However, the player’s father has now contradicted such statements. ‘We obviously met with Sarri for quite a long time,’ he said. ‘We had a chat with him. Christian got to meet with him for a bit, and it just felt good.’

The player himself had previously said he was yet to meet the manager. ‘I think they definitely see me in one of the wider areas,’ the American had said. ‘I think they also know that I can play kind anywhere across the attack. So I’m ready for wherever I need to be filled in really.’

Well things will now be awkward in that Chelsea office behind the doors. More so with Callum Hudson-Odoi who will probably realise his time is up at Stamford Bridge.
