Sky Italia’s Ghilda Pensante has said it is unlikely Higuain will leave for Chelsea despite having a good relation with Sarri.

“Their relationship could be a factor, but we also know that Higuain wants to prove to AC Milan his worth, more than he has managed to do up to now.”

“Also he wants to stay, he came back from Argentina on Monday to Milanello training ground, where he was getting ready for the return of the season – Serie A starts again on 18 January.”

“So they still have some days to get ready and train, and he also trained in Buenos Aires with his athletic trainer, so it seems he wants to stay and he wants to focus on what’s next.”

It is very, very difficult because Higuain is with AC Milan just on loan from Juventus. And last summer, AC Milan paid €18m for the loan. At the end of the season they’ll have to pay €36m if they want to keep him.”

“So it will be complicated for Chelsea because they will have to discuss with both AC Milan and with Juventus because Juventus still formally own his contract.  At the moment it seems that he will stay with AC Milan at least until the end of the season.”
