Chelsea faced yet another defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the 1st leg of the EFL Cup semi-final last night.

The Blues did however, put in a much improved performance as compared to their last visit to Wembley when they were humbled 3-1 by Spurs and were possibly unlucky this time around to comeback empty-handed.

However, despite managing to create so many chances, Chelsea fans were left fuming by certain players on the pitch, who seemed to be not at par with the team’s performance or intensity last night.

While Kante ran around with discipline making a nuisance of himself, his midfield partner Ross Barkley had a rather average game. The Englishman’s lack of maturity of impacting such a big game was exposed as he ended up overplaying half the moves and was rather poor with his running off the ball.

Next up on last night’s hate list of Chelsea fans was Marcos Alonso. The defender seems to be running through a rather lean patch as his exploits going forward have not just been bombed down but he also seems to be slowing down the team with his one-dimensional play. He, more often than not ,fails to read Hazard‘s runs and ends up occupying spaces the Belgian could have instead.

To make matters worse for Chelsea, Hazard last night clearly cut a frustrated figure with Alonso during the second half, worrying the Blues supporters that the Belgian might be forced away to Real Madrid by Alonso’s lethargic football.
