Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The Blues have hit the ground running under new manager Maurizio Sarri this season. They have performed well in all competitions and are in running for three trophies still in the second half of the season.

However, from the obvious problems spotted in the first half, one was that the Chelsea team still need time to adjust and adapt to the new style of play under Sarri. The next and the more worrying point is that they might not have the necessary personnel up front to fire them to any titles.

They have two forwards in the club in the form of Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata and both strikers have failed to fire this season despite the change in tactics which has seen Chelsea attack a lot more than their previous seasons.

The Blues also have forwards out on loan in the form of Michy Batshuyai in Sevilla and Tammy Abraham in Aston Villa. However, although Abraham has performed well in the Sky Bet Championship, there remains a doubt if he can deliver in the highest level on a regular basis.

This has seen the Chelsea team been linked to a number of strikers, the latest of which is Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan striker has been in classic form for the PSG outfit and recently became their record goalscorer.

However, at 31 and given that he has clashed a number of times with the club’s superstar Neymar, both on and off the pitch, Cavani could be sold for the right price. This has given the Blues hope, who reportedly want to bring him in to have a decent second half of the season and pick up a couple of trophies along the way.
