Chelsea Post Record Revenues, Surpassed £400M For The First Time

Chelsea have registered record revenues of £443.4 m for the financial year ending June 30, 2018. The West London side have also announced making a £62m profit after tax.

Revenues rose to 22.7% from previous fiscal year when they posted a healthy £361.3m. The figures are pretty encouraging as Chelsea surpassed the £400m mark for the first time in the club history.

Players sales contributed vigorously in boosting the revenue as Chelsea garnered a whopping £113m from letting off players with the likes Nemanja Matic, Diego Costa, Nathan Ake, Juan Cuadrado and Asmir Begovic.

Broadcast revenues also posted a good growth following their return to Europe as the Blues earned a staggering £204.1m in this section. Commercial revenues also got increased by £32m thanks to the huge £60m a year sponsorship deal with kit maker Nike.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said, “The club has now posted a series of record-breaking revenue figures and our profit margin has increased in consecutive years.

“This has occurred against a backdrop of varying participation in European football, and different degrees of achievement in the Premier League, which demonstrates we have built a sound business footing to support our on-pitch quest for success.”
