Maurizio Sarri has expressed his happiness with Hazard’s form but has challenged the Belgian to improve even further.

Speaking after the win against Brighton, the Italian said: “I think for us he could be very important in his position because he’s very able to come deep and play into spaces. But I think in that position he has to improve when attacking in the box.”

Chelsea‘s new style of play under Sarri has seen the Blues take on a more attacking style of play. The Blues now have a high pressing system which sees them maintain a high line and a more compact team. This allows them to maintain more possession and thus free up the attacking players to roam around with more license while on the ball.

This has seen Hazard flourish under Sarri and have his best season so far in terms of numbers with 17 goals and assists in the Premier League. The demise of form for both Morata and Giroud in the league has also seen Hazard take over the number nine role.

It is early days for Hazard as a number nine; let’s wait and see what new magic the Belgian can whip up!
