Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been told how to solve his striker’s problem by former Blues defender Gary Chivers.

Chelsea have rejuvenated from their miseries in the league last year under Sarri. The Blues look like a dangerous attacking unit for the first time in many seasons, thanks to the display of Sarrismo at Stamford Bridge.

However, Sarri’s men continue to struggle due to the lack of an imperative forward upfront. Alvaro Morata who was brought in to replace the fiery Diego Costa has failed to live up to his potential and has scored a paltry 22 goals in 69 games for the Blues.

Former Chelsea defender Chivers has now said that Sarri should look to spend on a new striker rather than stick with Morata.

“Someone who needs to upset people,” he told Love Sport Radio when asked who Chelsea should sign in January.

“Definitely, they need to bring someone in and that’s probably what they’re doing. It wouldn’t surprise me in the January transfer window if they go out and spend massive to get someone.”

“Who’s like Diego Costa when he first came over? No-one. He was angry all the time, but do you know what? Every single defender he played against didn’t want to play against him. You could see that from the off.”

It now remains to be seen whether Chelsea think along the same lines and get in a new striker in January.
