Chelsea are set to part ways with club captain Gary Cahill with Fulham set to bring him in.

Gary Cahill was signed by Chelsea in the winter market of 2012 and in his very first season he helped the club win the FA Cup and the Champions League. He has since then won multiple Premier Leagues, an Europa League, FA Cups and Carling Cups with the Blues making his 7 year spell well covered with trophies.

The Blues captain has been a solid rock at the back but the introduction of Sarri at Stamford Bridge has seen Chelsea change their style of play. The Blues no longer play defensive football. Sarri’s system needs defenders with technical skills, a department Cahill falls short in and hence the former England captain has seen himself out of the playing XI.

It is now being reported that Chelsea’s local rivals Fulham are ready to end Cahill’s exile and bring him to Craven Cottage. Fulham recently got their promotion but have flattered to deceive so far this season.

They have conceded the most number of goals this season and are crying out for a defensive leader. Cahill could prove to be a smart signing for them but how big of a loss will he for Chelsea?
