Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he wants to stay and sign a new contract at the club.

This season, the Spaniard has not featured in a single Premier League game for Chelsea. All of his appearances have come in the Europa League, Community Sheild and Carabao Cup.

Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014 at a fee of £27 million. He has since played 186 matches with 21 goals and 55 assists to his name.

In his first season for Chelsea, he provided the most number of assists in the Premier League. Fabregas was a regular for Chelsea until last season.

However, with the presence of N’Golo Kante and the arrival of Jorginho, the former Arsenal skipper spends most of his time this season on the bench.

However, Fabregas is very happy with Sarri and wants to play under him at Chelsea.

Fabregas said, “I wish he came a bit earlier to be honest, it’s a little bit late now in my career. Definitely I’m very happy with him.

Everything goes through me. This is what I like. I feel sensations under Sarri that I never thought I would feel again.

Touching the ball 100 times, all the play going through me or Jorginho is a very important role for him, I’m learning it, I’m very passionate about it as it’s very interesting. The way he sees football is something that maybe in the future if I become a coach I think I’ll do something very similar to what he does. It’s what I like and how I see football.

I’m learning a lot from here, it’s really interesting how he works and I’m really looking forward to working for a long time with him.”

Fabregas’ current contract at Chelsea expires at the end of the season. However, the 31-year old is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge. He said, “I’d love to stay at the club. I’ve been very happy for the last four years and a half, we’ve had great success, won many things. I feel I still have a lot of football left in me but it is now up to the club.”

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League table below Manchester City and Liverpool. They take on Southampton tomorrow in an attempt to end their two-match winless streak in the Premier League.
