Chelsea star hailed as one of the best in Europe

The player has been very impressive for the Blues so far this season

Maurizio Sarri was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager this summer, signing a three year new deal. He replaced Antonio Conte, who was sacked despite his contract expiring next summer.

The 59 year old raided his former club Napoli to sign midfielder Jorginho, signing a five-year deal with the club for a fee around £57 million. He became the Blue’s first signing this summer.

The Italy International joined the Serie A giants from Hellas Verona in 2013 and has been a mainstay in the midfield since then. He has constantly performed at the highest level and developed himself as one of the best midfielders in the league.

The 26 year old was pivotal for the club last term, linking the play between defense and attack. He scored 2 goals and assisted 4 in all the competitions and helped the team to finish second behind Juventus.

He has started this campaign brilliantly, starting in all Premier League fixtures so far under Sarri. Alongside N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic of late, the player has helped form a formidable midfield at Stamford Bridge.

Before joining Chelsea, the Italian was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola wanted a long term successor of Fernandinho. But a deal never materialised as he moved to Stamford Bridge.

Italy coach Roberto Mancini has hailed Jorginho as one of the best midfielders in Europe and believes he will improve more in the Premier League as it will help him to develop different areas of his game.

“Jorginho has over the last three years been one of the best midfielders in Europe,  he told as quoted by Football Italia. I am sure he’ll improve even more playing in the Premier League, as it’s a very physical type of football and can develop different areas of his game.

“We are very optimistic for the future and not just for this team.”
