Chelsea target's representative confirms the club made a huge offer for him

The player’s club had no intention of selling him

Chelsea are still in the market to reinforce their side after an underwhelming Premier League and Champions League campaign last season. They finished 5th in the league and will miss the Champions League in the upcoming season.

The Blues appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager back in july after sacking Antonio Conte and also completed the signing of midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, the club’s first summer signing.

Though they were behind in the transfer window in comparison to other Premier League clubs but on Wednesday they completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic on a season long loan from Real Madrid, in a deal which saw Thibaut Courtois going the other way for €35 million.

The Premier League giants also completed the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao after activating his  €80 million release clause, making him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

The English side were also heavily linked with a move for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani through out the transfer window as Sarri is a huge admirer of him. However, no deal between the clubs materialized.

The 24 year old’s representative Davide Torchia has revealed that Chelsea made a huge offer for the centre-back but the Turin side had no intentions of selling their prized asset.

“Juventus have no desire to sell him, not even for a high price which, among other things, no-one in Italy could afford,” Torchia told RMC Sport Goalas quoted by .

“However, the player has never asked to leave. Only when a very important offer arrives is it normal to listen, but Juventus have rejected all kinds of offers to keep him in Turin.

“Chelsea made a really big bid, which was close to being unthinkable for me, but Juventus didn’t relent.

“[Sami] Khedira played only 10 more games than Daniele last season. I think Rugani can play even more this season.”

  1. Thanks to the management and staff of Chelsea to keep all our shinning stars with the exception of courtois with an addition of brilliant goalkeeper and midfielders we only need a robust striker and central defender.
