Chelsea set to meet Serie A star's agent in Italy

Maurizio Sarri is keen to sign him before the transfer window closes

Chelsea are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League and Champions League campaign last season. They finished 5th in the league and will miss the Champions League in the upcoming season.

The Blues appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager after sacking Antonio Conte and also completed the signing of midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, the club’s first summer signing.

They have been behind in the transfer window in comparison to other Premiere League clubs but with their managerial situation sorted, they are keen add more players before the transfer window closes.

Despite signing the Italy International, Sarri has identified midfield as the area he wants to improve. The English side particularly struggled in that area last season as the midfielders barring N’Golo Kante struggled to make an impact.

The 59 year old has personally requested the Premier League giants to move for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnia International joined the Turin side from Roma on a five-year contract for a fee of €32 million in 2016. He has been a mainstay in the midfield since then and is considered one the best midfielders in the world.

The 28 year old featured regularly for the Italian side last season, scoring 7 goals and assisting 9 in 45 appearances in all competitions and helped the club win their 7th consecutive Serie A titles.

Chelsea club director Marina Granovskaia is set to meet with the agent who represents Miralem Pjanic and Daniele Rugani, reports Calciomercato.

Granovskaia had headed to Italy where she will meet with Fali Ramadani as well as possibly with Juventus, with an offer for Rugani reportedly already made.

Ramadani has worked closely with the London club this summer having helped broker the deal that saw them prise the Italian manager from Napoli and has also been involved in the club’s negotiations for the Italian centre-back.
