Chelsea add another goalkeeper in their shortlist

Thibaut Courtois has been linked with a summer exit

Chelsea are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League and Champions League campaign last season. They finished 5th in the league and will miss the Champions League in the upcoming season.

The Blues have appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager last week after sacking Antonio Conte and also completed the signing of midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, the club’s first summer signing.

They have been behind in the transfer window in comparison to other Premiere League clubs but with the arrival of the Italian midfielder it is believed that it will finally kickstart their transfer plans.

One of the unexpected areas The English Side might have to strengthen is between the sticks as Thibaut Courtois continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

He returned to the club from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 after he enjoyed 3 successful seasons on loan in Spain. Since then he has been the mainstay at the club and has developed himself as one of the best Goalkeepers in the world.

But the 25 year old has been stalling on signing a contract extension at Stamford Bridge for a past couple of months and could leave on a free transfer next year when his contract expires.

The Premier League giants are keen to keep him but are also willing to sell him this summer rather than to let him leave on a free transfer at the end of the next season.

They were linked with a move for Roma star Alisson Becker but the Brazilian completed a move to Liverpool earlier this week. They also have been linked with a move for Kasper Schmeichel, Petr Cech and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Chelsea are weighing up a surprise £5 million bid for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as they look for replacements for Courtois, reports the Sun .

The England International has struggled to make an impression under Pep Guardiola and has been sent on loan during the past 2 seasons. But he failed to impress with both Torino and West Ham.

However,  Sarri sees him as appealing because of his low price tag and that he would add to their Premier League homegrown player count.

  1. Why Hart who is clearly past his best Not good enough for West Ham, certainly not good enough for us!
If you want to go English, make an offer for Butland (England’s number two) if shakiri went for £13 million then Butland shouldn’t be that much!!
