Chelsea-rejects-offer-from-Barcelona-for-their-player

But the talks between the clubs still continue

Willian joined Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala for a reported fee of £30 million in 2013. The Winger has been one of the most constant players for them in the last three years, scoring 44 goals in 236 for the club since joining them.

The Brazilian was a crucial player for them in both their Premier League winning campaign, 2014/2015 and 2016/2017. He was their stand out player in the 2015/2016 campaign, when the club under performed and finished outside the top 4.

He may not dazzle as much as his more fanciful teammates at club or national team level likes of Eden Hazard and Neymar, but rare is the game where he doesn’t display obvious effort, determination, and commitment to the cause.

But the 29 year old was used sparingly last season by Antonio Conte and mostly came on as a substitute. Though the campaign was his best ever tally with 13 goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances and and was one of the standout players, as the club finished 5th in the Premier League.

The Brazil International was frustrated with the lack of regular football last term and admitted to finding life on the bench difficult. He has been heavily linked with a exit this summer with Barcelona one of the clubs chasing him.

Despite winning the league and cup double last season, La Liga giants have concerns that their squad still lacks greater quality in depth and attacking flair. They see him as a playmaker who can add an extra dimension to their attack following the departure of Andres Iniesta.

Chelsea have turned down a bid in excess of £50m for Willian from Barcelona, according to Sky sources.

Though talks remain ongoing between the two clubs and representatives of the player, who is currently on international duty with Brazil at the World Cup.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in him as Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of him.
