Chelsea likely to sell Thibaut Courtois this summer

The Blue’s want Roma’s goalkeeper to replace the Belgian

Thibaut Courtois returned to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 after he enjoyed 3 successful seasons on loan in Spain. Since then he has been the mainstay between the sticks and has established himself as one of the best Goalkeepers in the world.

The Belgian is considered as one of the most important members of the Blue’s and has already won 2 Premier League, 1 FA Cup and 1 League club with the club. He made 46 appearances for the club last season but missed out on Champions League qualification.

But the 25 year old has been stalling on signing an extension at Stamford Bridge and could leave on a free transfer next year when his contract expires. He has seemingly joined a number of first-team players whose futures are also shrouded in doubt.

The Belgium International has been linked to host number of clubs like Real Madrid, PSG and Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are likely to sell Courtois and are considering entering the race for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Sky in Italy. They have decided to stop negotiations over a contract renewal and wants to cash in on him rather than to leave him on a free transfer next summer.

The Brazilian has been very impressive for the Serie A giants domestically and in Europe this season, establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has kept 22 clean sheets in 49 games for the club in all competitions.

It has been a meteoric rise for the keeper who did not play a single game in Serie A last season before taking over as the undisputed No.1 this term. He has also attracted interest from the clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid.
