Malang Sarr (24), who has been on a season-long loan at AS Monaco, will eventually return to his original club Chelsea.

Sarr signed on for a season-long loan with the option to become a permanent hire should certain clauses—possibly connected to a certain number of appearances—be satisfied. The former OGC Nice center-back, however, has never been able to establish himself in Monaco’s defence.

Up until January, current Chelsea center-back Benoît Badiashile blocked his path to the starting lineup. Since then, Guillermo Maripán has obstructed his path, and Philippe Clement has settled on a four-man defence. The Frenchman has only made 17 appearances for Les Monégasques this season, and it’s possible he won’t play for the Principality club again.
