Atletico Madrid join the race for Alvaro Morata

The Forward may leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a record transfer fee of £60 million last summer, to fill the sizable boots of Diego Costa who left them to join his former club Atletico Madrid.

Despite a dazzling start to his Chelsea career with eight goals in his first seven games, the 25 year old has struggled for form at Stamford Bridge over the course of the season.

The Spain International has also struggled with mysterious back injury and he even admitted he took painkilling injections. He has just scored 11 goals in 30 Premier League games.

Morata has already been linked with a return to his former club Juventus ahead of the transfer window, where he enjoyed two successful years from 2014-2016. Reports suggest Serie A giants could make a £60 million bid this summer or look to take him on a loan.

According Calciomercato, the latest side to have considered a move for Morata is Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga giants are looking to reinforce their side in the transfer window as Fernando Torres will leave the the club at the end of the season and Antoine Griezmann’s future is still uncertain as he is still continuously linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.

Diego Simeone’s side likely to make a move for the Spanish Striker if he is allowed to leave this summer.
