Chelsea 2 – Everton 1

Chelsea progressed through to the quarterfinals of the League Cup on Wednesday night.

The Blues beat Everton 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

A looping header from Antonio Ruediger gave Chelsea a 26th minute lead, while Willian made sure of the victory with Chelsea’s second in the 90th minute.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a late consolation for Everton in injury time.

Michy Batshuayi v the post

Antonio Conte shuffled his troops for the Everton game That meant Alvaro Morata was left on the bench while Michy Batshuayi started up front.

Batshuayi, of course, scored a double last weekend in the comeback win over Watford.

During the Everton match, Batshuayi suffered one significant blow when he slid into the post.

Thankfully the Chelsea striker avoided any serious injury.
