Frank Lampard on Chelsea

Chelsea’s all-time record goalscorer, Frank Lampard, now writes a weekly column for the London Evening Standard.

This week’s report is on Chelsea, while Lampard has focused in on new striker Alvaro Morata.

Morata, 24, joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer.

Some have questioned whether the Spanish international was good enough to lead Chelsea to silverware, despite the forward’s record at Juventus and Real Madrid.

So far Morata has hit the ground running. He’s scored five goals and chalked up four assists in four matches for club and country.

With those stats to rely on, Lampard has sung the praises of Chelsea’s new centre-forward:

Technically Alvaro is fantastic, as is his movement.  

Alvaro has already proven a few people here wrong who were questioning whether he could cope with the combative game in this country. 

I think he can handle anything. Plus we haven’t seen him really link up with Eden Hazard yet. Great strikers feed off great…
