Chelsea bagged their first win of the Champions League season with an extremely comprehensive win over Azerbaijani side Qarabağ FK.
The Londoners were looking to make a big splash in their return to the Europe’s top competition and they certainly did that.
Although Qarabag were not expected to be tough opponents, a 6-0 thrashing in the Champions League is impressive nonetheless.
Goals came from Pedro (5), Davide Zappacosta (30), Cesar Azpilicueta (55), Tiémoué Bakayoko (71) and Michy Batshuayi (76) with an own goal late on compounding Qarabag’s woes.
Next up for Chelsea in the Champions League will be a much sturdier opponent in Atletico Madrid who were held to a 0-0 draw by Roma in their first game.
